Easy Strategy for More Cookies Cookie Clicker
Kristian has always played games and insists that he will never grow out of it! His dream is to play with a pro gamer one day.
This Cookie Clicker guide will help you collect cookies quickly and efficiently.
While there is no endpoint to the game, this strategy guide will help you efficiently collect cookies and spend your cookies wisely and efficiently for the best ROI (return on investment).
Cookie Clicker Strategy Guide
Below are six ways to make the most of your playthrough. Utilize these tips and tricks to get the cookies flowing! But first, I will provide a little background on the game.
Background
Created by using JavaScript, Cookie Clicker is an online, browser-based game where the objective is to collect cookies available traditionally on PC but now also for PS4.
It was released by Orteil and Opti in 2013 as a bit of fun, but it quickly took off and became an internet phenomenon. Since its release, the game has experienced many changes—with a major reworking brought about after v2.
To get cookies, you click on them (hence the name). With the cookies that you have collected, you can purchase items to help you gather cookies faster. These items can:
- Provide more cookies per click.
- Automatically generate cookies (clickless cookies).
- Upgrade cookie generation through clicking and clickless methods.
There are achievements to unlock and a prestige system to keep you hooked. The game also gives players a "soft target" to aim for, rather than a "hard ending" that most games have.
1. Return on Investment
The first point to consider in this strategy guide is Return on Investment (ROI).
Warning: Maths ahead.
This is a term often used in investment and personal finance and refers to what you are getting for your initial investment. In the "real world," people use money to make money, in this game you are using cookies to make cookies so that same principals apply.
When purchasing upgrades or buildings, consider what you want to gain from it. Simplistically, this is CPC (cookies per second). As the game develops, the cost of upgrades and buildings becomes exponentially higher and therefore much more costly. Therefore, consider if the upgrade will net you enough cookies per second to warrant the purchase at this stage.

Consider the following fictional scenario. You have 1000 cookies and have some choices:
- Purchase 2 grandmas for 800 cookies to make 10 cookies per second each (total of 20 cookies per second).
- Purchase 1 farm for 1000 cookies to make 28 cookies per second.
At first glance, the farm seems like the better option, although if it is broken down into a percentage yield from initial investment:
- Grandmas are making 2.5% of initial investment per second (taking 40 seconds to pay off the initial investment).
- The farm is making 2.8% of the initial investment per second (taking 36 seconds to pay off the initial investment).
You can see that the farm is only marginally better. The above scenario presents two strategies to carry forward:
- Purchase the grandmas and use the leftover 200 cookies to generate more cookies.
- Purchase the farm to make more cookies in the long term.
This can be decided based on your strategy overall, if you feel as though you want to AFK and leave the game running then the farm will be the best option. If you want to actively play then the grandmas are the better option.
To summarise this section, the most obvious option isn't always the best one. Consider your Return on Investment and if your cookies are in the most efficient place. Often buying new buildings is a better return than going into the high level of upgrades of the initially lower-cost buildings, early game.

2. Create a Decisive Strategy
The second point of this strategy guide is to decide on your preferred way of playing early and commit to it.
If you are happy to click away, then you are better off basing your strategy around clicking more.
If you prefer to leave it, then you are better off with a strategy based around automatic cookie generation.
This will essentially help you allocate your precious resources as efficiently as possible in line with your decided strategy. If you want to click, prioritise all of the click-based upgrades first as it will net you more cookies in the long run.
This can help to avoid wasting cookies in areas that you have no intention of using.
3. Achievements
Milk.
This is less obvious in the game, but still important. Every time you unlock a new achievement you gain milk. This gives your cookie production a percentage bonus.
See below for more details in regards to what the achievements are:
- Achievement | Cookie Clicker Wiki | Fandom powered by Wikia
Achievements are badges you earn for achieving certain goals, and each one increases the amount...
Try to make sure that you are constantly journeying towards unlocking these achievements to help you in the long run.
It is also worth scanning all of the achievements to see if you have an "easy wins". It might be that you are very close, don't know it and with a simple upgrade can give yourself an instant boost.
Milk is also increased through unique upgrades that can be found with all the others, although it doesn't state what it does, Make sure you are collecting this upgrade at every opportunity.
I admit, this is one aspect that I didn't realise for some time!
4. Upgrade Your Prestige
Once you reach a set target (the first being 1 trillion), you can ascend to a higher prestige level.
Each time that you ascend you reset all of your cookies, buildings and upgrades; you will retain your achievements though.
The benefit of ascending to the next prestige is that it passively increases your cookie income, so in the long run, you will be better off for doing so. Plus it is nice to have a target to aim for!
You want to prestige as soon as you are able to (once you have hit the target) to continue to be as efficient as possible.
5. Avoid Farms: Grandmas Are Great
Not all cookie-generated buildings are equal in this strategy guide.
It is generally accepted that grandma buildings and upgrades are excellent early on the game and mature well into the later game due to the continuous upgrades that are available for them. Therefore, it can be efficient to pour your investments into the grandma tech tree.
Farms, on the other hand, are considered to be a poor investment. It is still worth purchasing them early on and getting a few upgrades, but don't throw all of your resources at them, as they can be better spent elsewhere.
6. Upgrading Is Important
Upgrades are really, really important.
It is especially important as you progress to the later stages of the game. It can be a really cost-efficient way of improving your cookies per second quite drastically.
Going back to the previous points in this strategy guide, always consider your return on investment and your strategy. Although it's a good idea to upgrade as soon as possible, it probably isn't a good idea to get upgrades for buildings you don't have. Likewise, it is a bad idea to get upgrades into clicking tech if you never plan to click.
Make sure that your upgrades are working for you, then get them as often as possible.
You'll Be Making Quintillions in No Time!
This strategy guide considers many points, but they should not be taken in isolation.
All of these suggestions should be taken together. The secret is to set a strategy for yourself, consider each investment, invest efficiently, and be persistent with it.
If you follow each of these points you will be making cookies by the quintillions!

I went to the article https://theencarta.com/cookie-clicker-achievements... to confirm that you receive 4% milk for each achievement. However in my save file I am missing 12%. From what I can see for every shadow achievement you have you lose 4% Milk.

I agree to TurtleEnergy.
Since the building boosts, passive play is almost worthless. One simple elder frenzy / clicking frenzy + "sell all farms" (Godzamok in Diamond slot) already outvalues the whole night you were afk with full wrinklers. If you have a normal frenzy and / or building bonus running, you will gain weeks and months of cookie production within those 20 seconds.
I would like to add a third point, for starters:
3. The building upgrades
Cookie clicker lacks an explanation when you look at an upgrade you already own: The upgrade description does not tell you when that upgrade became available and VISIBLE. The upgrades become visible at the respective building amounts 1, 5, 25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300. They boost the cps of that building type *2, each time, for each building type. So, instead of getting your 134th prism, it might be better to push instead your antimatters from 145 to 150, to unlock - and therefore make visible - the level 150 antimatter upgrade and double the total antimatter income with it.
TurtleEnergy on July 31, 2017:
If you play Late game then you should have a lot of farms and mines even though they don't do nothing with two reasons:
1. The achievements
2. the most important: Godzamok, Spirit of Ruin, if you get a Sugar Lump use it on temple and put Godzamok on diamond!
every building you sell is 3% cps increase for a limited time, if you have idk 150 or 300 of farms and mines you can easily get 1500% bonus and this multiplies with other effects like Frenzy, clicking frenzy, elder frenzy and Dragonflight and even combining frenzy with one of these is even more powerful so get yourself this and you'll be going to the decillions in no time
